was James P. Johnson?
James
P. Johnson was a legendary jazz pianist and composer during the
first half of the 1900's. He is also known as the "Father of
Stride Piano", and is famous for the creation of The Charleston,
and over 400 other original compositions.

is The James P. Johnson Foundation (JPJF)?
The
JPJF was incepted in 1995 as a non-profit organization devoted to
promoting music and the arts for underprivileged young people in
Southern California.

Where
does my money go?
Currently,
the JPJF Youth Jazz Band, comprised of young adults ages 13 - 17
will be preparing for several 2004 performances. We will be expanding
our Make It Happen and Johnson Archive programs, and are anticipating
several new additions to the organization within the fiscal year.
